Managing Page Structure

Use the Element Tree on the right of the editor to manage the hierarchy of Elements in your page. The Element Tree is particularly useful when your page contains nested or hidden Elements that aren’t selectable on the Canvas.

The parent Element is the page itself, with the Elements you have added listed inside it. When your page is presented to the user, Elements are added in the order listed in the Element Tree.

Child Elements are indented to the right of their parent. You can expand and collapse Elements to toggle visibility in the Element Tree.

ⓘ Note

When you select a parent Element, any actions you carry out on it will also apply to its child Elements.

Click and drag an Element to move it within the page hierarchy – drop it on top of another Element to make it a child of that Element.

Moving the drop position to the left or right will control what level you place the Element at. Use the indicator line to drop the Element in a valid position – invalid drop positions are highlighted in red.

invalid drop position

When you move an Element in or out of a parent Element, its position on the Canvas may change to reflect that relationship.

ⓘ Note

If you use parent Elements such as View Pagers and Page Controllers, only one child View will be visible at any time. You can select hidden Views using the Element Tree. Similarly, if an Element has its Hidden Property checked, you can only select it using the Element Tree.

When your page structure is complete, you can carry on creating more pages or add functionality.
